My Turbine - What to Expect

As the end user of a Hummer small wind turbine, you may wonder what you can expect to occur before, during, and after the installation of a Hummer small wind turbine?

Before the Installation

Estimate the average wind speed at your site.
Research the zoning / permitting / approval process (if any) that is in place in your area.
Research the grid connection (net metering) regulations in your area.
Determine your annual energy usage.
Decide which size turbine is best for your site.
Decide which tower type is best for your site.
Decide which tower height is best for your site.
Decide where to install the electrical components (balance of system).
Research and apply for the financial incentive programs that are available in your area.
Provide other information such as: site access, photos of the site, etc.

During the Installation (First Day)

Receive a call from Hummer’s local Installation & Service Partner (ISP).
ISP shall arrive with some material and equipment to prepare the site.
ISP shall dig the hole(s) for the foundation.
ISP shall pour concrete for the foundation (if necessary).
ISP shall dig a trench for the cable run between the turbine site and the inverter hub.
ISP shall install the electrical components associated with the inverter hub.

Wait 7 – 28 days for the foundation to cure.

During the Installation (Second Day)

ISP returns with all material and equipment to install the wind turbine.
ISP attaches tower to foundation.
ISP attaches turbine to tower.
ISP raises the turbine and tower into the air.
ISP connects the turbine to the electrical components.
ISP tests the system.
ISP trains you on the operation and basic maintenance procedures of the turbine.
ISP cleans up the site.

After the Installation

Enjoy the sight of a beautiful wind turbine spinning on your property.
Enjoy reduced energy bills.
Enjoy seeing your electric meter run backwards.
